New Iberia, LA Home-Going Celebration will be held for Mr. Ronald Lynn Sophus, Jr., 61, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Zion Hill Christian Fellowship, 626 W. Main Street, New Iberia, LA 70560 with Bishop Darren Michael Sophus, Sr., officiating.
Visitation hours will be observed at Zion Hill Christian Fellowship on Saturday, May 18, 2024, beginning at 8:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
He will await the resurrection at Saint Matthew Cemetery on Fulton Street in New Iberia, LA.
Ronald Lynn Sophus, Jr., affectionately known as "Sweet," passed away on May 6, 2024, at Iberia Medical Center. He was born on May 15, 1962, in Lafayette. Ronald will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, which earned him the endearing nickname "Sweet."
Ronald leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be cherished by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Joann Lewis Sophus, his sons Ronald Lynn Demouchet and Michael {Journey} Terrell Demouchet, Sr., his daughter Joann Marie Gabriel, his bonus daughter Myia Rochelle, his brothers Roland {Sandra} "Wayne" Sophus, Donald {Anita} "Deno" Sophus, Darren {Ernestine} "Bishop" Sophus, and Marcus {LaKesha} "Pokey" Sophus, as well as his sisters Beverly {Reverend Emile Jolivet} Jolivet, Winifred {Walter} Bell, and Charlotte {Rodney} Jack.
In addition to his immediate family, Ronald is survived by fourteen grandchildren and two (2) great-grandchildren who meant the world to him.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father Roland Sophus, his sister Wanda Polk, his niece Tracey Lewis, fiancée Bridget Thodile.
